Open Post | Memorial Day Weekend (UPDATE: Sun. 9:30 PM)

– Keondre Coburn: Westfield (TX) DT Keondre Coburn cut his list in half recently.

There are a lot of schools in the mix here but I think this one comes down to Texas, TCU, and Texas A&M. I believe Texas holds the slight edge right now, but this one makes too much sense for the Longhorns. They will use the loss of DT’s Marcel Southall and Jordan Elliott to their advantage. Also, having his former HC in Corby Meekins on staff (Meekins’ brother is also the HC at Westfield) and if they land some more top talent from Houston that could seal the deal IMO. – (Andrew)

– Al’Vonte Woodard: Hou. Lamar (TX) WR Al’Vonte Woodard is down to 5 schools…

For awhile this was a close Texas-Texas A&M battle, but he has cooled on the Aggies over the last few months. Texas is in a great spot here, but Woodard is very intrigued by Ohio State and with his teammate CB Anthony Cook leaning there, if he makes a visit to Colmbus it could make things interesting. I will stay say the smart money is on Texas as of today with Woodard. – (Andrew)

– Jordan Elliott: It looks like former Texas DE Jordan Elliott found a home, rather quickly.

He is following former Texas DL coach Brick Haley to Missouri. There was some talk that Texas may block the Tigers due to possible tampering violations, but that didn’t happen.

– Texas Mini-Camp: Texas will hold their first Mini-camp of the Tom Herman era on Sunday. There will be some 2018 guys in attendance but the main ones will be 2019 guys trying to earn an offer. The main 2018 recruit that is working out is Cuero (TX) TE Bralen Taylor…

– Big Note for the Future:

If this happens, I’ll just say it won’t hurt Tom Herman’s recruiting momentum in the Houston area…

UPDATE (Sun. 9:30 pm): The first offer from the Texas camp goes out to FM Marcus (TX) 2019 OLB Marcel Brooks.
