I hope everyone had a fantastic Mother’s Day weekend with friends and family. I was out of town for a majority of it, and it ended up being a pretty busy weekend in terms of Texas recruiting. The State championship track meet was in Austin this weekend and while there are some NCAA/UIL rules against athletes visiting Texas, there are some ways around it and we saw a few visitors head over.

– Brennan Eagles: The biggest visitor of the weekend for Texas was Alief Taylor (TX) WR Brennan Eagles. He last visited Texas for their Jr Day in February, so it was a good thing for the Texas staff to get him on campus. He spent time with Coach Drew Mehringer, 5-star S BJ Foster, and commits S Caden Sterns and LB Byron Hobbs. As you can see from this tweet from Foster’s mom.

Eagles has a lot of out of state firepower in his Top 10 like Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and others. But we continue to feel good about Texas’ chances as we have for quite awhile now. – (Andrew)

Jaquayln Crawford: Another recruit that I wasn’t sure was going to make it to Texas over the weekend that did was Rockdale (TX) ATH Jaquayln Crawford.

He spent a lot of time with WR coach Drew Mehringer, who visited Crawford at his HS last week. To me that shows that Texas prefers him at WR right now, but most know he’s a true athlete that could end up playing either side of the ball. As I reported on Friday, the current commitment of FL slot WR Justin Watkins is playing a small role in Crawford’s recruitment but it is Texas and TCU right now. Though schools like Oklahoma and Texas A&M have been recruiting him harder recently. – (Andrew)

– BJ Foster: Angleton (TX) 5-star S BJ Foster was a big name we expected to see in Austin over the weekend and he and his mother made the trip. Things continue to trend in Texas’ direction here, as he spend a lot of time this weekend with Texas commits Caden Sterns, DE Ron Tatum, and LB Byron Hobbs

– Top Lists: Two recruits with Texas offers cut their lists down over the weekend and Texas made the cut with both guys.
