– Tanner McKee: As I reported back in March, Centennial (CA) QB Tanner McKee will visit Texas this weekend. Texas already holds commitments from 2018 QB’s in Cam Rising and Casey Thomson, so why would they bring in McKee for a visit? In case you forgot, he is Mormon and is going to take a two year mission after he graduates, so he won’t enroll at a school until 2020. So in reality he’s a 2020 recruit.
McKee had a swing of East coast visits back in March when he checked out places like Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Duke, and stopped by UCLA when he got back home. He told me he is keeping an open mind on schools until he takes all his visits, and he has three more which he will finish up this weekend in Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas A&M. He will be in Norman on Friday, Austin on Saturday, and College Station on Sunday. McKee said there is a group of schools recruiting him the hardest and those schools are Alabama, Washington, BYU, Utah, Texas, North Carolina, UCLA, and Georgia.
McKee is a true pro-style QB at 6’6 225, and Herman is selling him on, “The tradition of Texas football and his ability to get them back on top. And the system they run is a lot like what we run at Centennial.” – (Andrew)
– Keaontay Ingram: Most saw reports come out yesterday that said Texas leads for Carthage (TX) RB Keaontay Ingram. If you read TFB you wouldn’t be too surprised with that news as I’ve been told for awhile it was a Texas-TAMU battle even though out of state schools like Michigan and Ohio State are recruiting in him. I also get the sense that Texas may be pushing for a commitment harder than before with Ingram, so that may be something to keep an eye on. – (Andrew)
– Harold Joiner: Another running back target to keep an eye on his 2018 RB, Harold Joiner (Mountain Brook, AL). You’ll recall Texas offered Joiner back in April and Andrew reported around that time that Joiner will visit Texas on May 12th.
I am told that Tim Beck is in Alabama today to see Joiner. With an Alabama offer in hand, Joiner may seem like an impossible recruit to land, however, I’m told that Alabama wants Joiner as a linebacker and he prefers to play running back. Texas is recruiting Joiner as a running back. – (Super K)
