Tom Herman has landed his first 5-star recruit in his time at Texas in Angleton (TX) S BJ Foster. This one has been looking very good for Texas for a long time, as BJ Foster has let the Texas staff know his intentions to be a Longhorn for sometime now. But this is still a huge pick up for Texas.
Foster is a super star and is the 3rd S to commit to Texas already in the 2018 class, but between him, Caden Sterns, and DeMarvion Overshown, Foster is the only true S in the group. The other two could play other positions. One big question with Foster is that he’s coming off a torn ACL that kept him out for the majority of his JR season. The Opening Finals in Oregon later this summer will be the first time he will be competing at 100% since the injury. As he is supossed to be cleared to return very soon.
Another factor of this commitment is that Texas has somewhat ‘punched back’ at Texas A&M’s 3 commitments this week in 4-star’s Leon O’Neal Jr and Max Wright and elite 2019 QB Grant Gunnell. As Texas has landed 4-star LB Ayodele Adeoye and now BJ Foster over the last two days in addition to 4-star’s RB Keaontay Ingram and S DeMarvion Overshown earlier last week.
Foster is commitment #12 in the Texas class that is an early Top 5 class in the nation.
