Texas stays hot on the recruiting trail as Dekaney (TX) TE Malcolm Epps has committed to Texas over Texas A&M. This one has been a battle between the Longhorns and the Aggies since he decommitted from Alabama after NSD. Also they are the only two schools that have given Epps a shot to play basketball as well as football. While he loves basketball, I talked to someone and he knows his future is on the football field.

Epps is a big land for Texas. As they haven’t landed an elite pass catching TE in a long time. Case Brewer and Reese Leitao were good lands in 2017 but Epps’ upside is at another level. At 6’6 220 he needs to keep adding some bulk but he has the upside you love. Adding Epps in addition to #1 JUCO TE Dominick Wood-Anderson is a great haul for Texas at TE. Anderson is a guy that will come in and play (possibly start) from Day 1. Epps is a skinnier guy but a great athlete who could likely use a RS year in a college weight program to add some much needed weight.

A huge past couple weeks for TE coach Corby Meekins. And Epps is already the 17th commit in Texas’ 2018 class.
