The University of Texas will play a home-and-home football series with defending National Champion and SEC power Alabama in 2022 and 2023. Texas will host the Crimson Tide on Sept. 10, 2022, and travel to Tuscaloosa on Sept. 9, 2023. As part of that future schedule movement, Texas and Ohio State have mutually agreed to push back the dates of their home-and-home series from 2022 and 2023 to 2025 and 2026. The Longhorns will now host the Buckeyes on Aug. 30, 2025, and travel to Columbus on Sept. 5, 2026. Additionally, Texas has added a home game against UTEP on Sept. 19, 2020.

Texas (898/2nd NCAA) and Alabama (891/5th NCAA) have combined to play 248 years of football and post 1,789 all-time victories. Having last met in the 2009 National Championship Game at the Rose Bowl, the Longhorns and Crimson Tide have played nine times dating back to 1902 with Texas holding a 7-1-1 series advantage. The traditional college football powers have only met three times on their home fields with the last coming in Austin in 1922. The Longhorns played at Alabama in 1902, and the Crimson Tide traveled to Austin in 1915. The bowl matchups have taken place in the 1947 Sugar Bowl, 1960 Bluebonnet Bowl, 1964 Orange Bowl, 1972 and 1982 Cotton Bowls and most recently the 2010 Rose Bowl.

Texas and Ohio State last met in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl in 2009. The two schools, with a combined 253 years of college football history, are tied for second on the NCAA all-time victory chart with 898 wins for a combined 1,796. They didn’t meet until 2005, but have met three times over the last 13 years, including a home-and-home series in 2005 and 2006. Texas holds a 2-1 advantage in those matchups.

The Longhorns are 5-0 all-time against UTEP and last faced the Miners in 2016 in Austin. The teams also met in Austin in 2009, and in El Paso in 2008. Prior to that, they had not played since a pair of games in Austin in 1930 and 1933.

In addition to those schedule changes, a Texas home game with UCF, which was scheduled for Sept. 9, 2023, has been canceled.
