Andrew Beck on Mackey Award Watch List

– The John Mackey Award honors college footballs “Most Outstanding” tight end annually. This season, Texas’ Andrew Beck has made the preseason watch list.

Beck missed all of last season with an injury, however over the previous two seasons, he started over a dozen games and played in over 25. While he has not been known for his offensive production, he is a very effective blocker and played a huge role as a lead blocker for D’Onta Foreman, who rushed for 2,028 yards in 2016.

Beck may become more of a pass catching weapon this season in the Tom Herman led offense as compared to the offensive scheme of the former staff.

***A source said about Beck’s off-season progress, “He’s just healthy. He brings veteran leadership, experience and grit. High character kid who will do anything for his teammates”.
