This year, UT senior linebacker, Gary Johnson has been placed on the preseason Butkus Award watch list.
The second-year linebacker for the Longhorns has played in 13 career games with seven starts. He was named the Big 12 Conference co-Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 20, 2017. Johnson was a transfer from Dodge City Community College prior to arriving in Austin.
