NFL Combine

Love this quote by Gary Johnson.

Well, the Texas team of old that most have grown to a fond disliking for over the season was out in full force in Lubbock on Monday.

Texas shot 29.6% from the field and 22.2% (4-18) from beyond the arc.

Through three weeks, Texas Baseball has racked up four Big 12 Weekly accolades. Two of which being Newcomer of the Week as LF Eric Kennedy joins freshman SP Coy Cobb as the other to receive the recognition.

I touched on this in Monday’s 40 Updates, but I cannot remember a group of freshman as impactful on the diamond in a long, long time.

The Presidents (Eric Kennedy, Bryce Reagan & Lance Ford) have been very good so far.

As for the freshman arms, Cobb, Meaney, Bryant, Kubicheck & Madden have a combined 1.83 ERA in 34.1 IP this season.

Which Longhorn in this year’s combine do you think will have the most successful NFL career?

  • My take: I’ll be the first to admit, I was not a pro-Kris Boyd advocate for most of his time in Austin. However, I really think he is going to translate in the NFL very well. Boyd is 6-foot, 2-inches and can run with any WR in the league as evidenced by his 4.45 40-yard dash. Though his ball skills are suspect at times, the need for Boyd to be on his own island in the league will be almost minimized completely compared to what it was in Austin.
