Bijan Robinson | Return Visit
– Super K

Some good news on the running back front.

I checked in with the mother of 2020 RB, Bijan Robinson (Salpointe Catholic) and she tells me that Bijan will indeed return to Texas.

The visit is schedule for the big June 22nd recruiting weekend and will be an official visit.

While Robinson’s coaches accompanied him on his last trip, his mother will accompany him on this trip.

This is pretty significant news for a few reasons. One reason is official visits for the summer will end the very next week and Robinson plans on making a summer decision. So, Texas will end up being one of his final visits before his announcement.

I can tell you that USC was Robinson’s childhood favorite but the instability there may be too much for the Trojan’s to overcome. Also, his father and grandfather both played at Arizona. That may be a school to watch.

The other thing to note is whether Robinson will want to play with some of the caliber of a Zach Evans, should Texas land Evans. I think in this day in age with the number of offensive snaps, it’s easy to make the case that a good partner back is actually better for your career.

Either way, the important thing right now is that Texas seems to be in the thick of it with another truly elite running back.

2021 LB Derrick Harris Talks Texas
– CJ Vogel

Welcome to the TFB Board, Derrick Harris!

This will be a name to store away for the 2021 class, but is certainly worth the investment. ICYMI, Darius ranked Harris as his 12th prospect in the Top 25 in 2021.

Harris, a 2021 linebacker out of New Caney High School, has been rather quiet on the recruiting trail so far however that should change this summer and heading into his junior season.

At the moment, Harris holds only an SMU offer, but he is currently hearing from schools like Oklahoma State, TCU and Baylor as well.

*** Harris said he has been in contact with the Texas staff in the past but it’s rather spotty. Texas defensive coordinator Todd Orlando was in communications with Harris last week where the two discussed getting Harris down to Austin for a camp this summer.

Finding linebackers in-state has been difficult in the past couple of cycles, so if Harris passes the eye test for the staff at the camp, it would be surprising to not see an offer extended at some point.

** As for his interest in the Longhorns, Harris said he would be “most interested” in Texas.

He has visited campus twice so far and added Texas “is a school I would like to go to.”

Jahari Rogers Visits Florida | Texas Official Visit Date
– Super K

As you know, this weekend, Jahari Rogers visited Florida for his official visit. I did text with him, yesterday, and he said the visit was going better than expected.

This was a return trip for Rogers.

The reason this visit is significant is because after speaking with him at length, recently, it was very clear that Florida is the biggest threat to Texas.

I believe Rogers is on his way home now. We should know fairly soon whether Florida was able to capture what I believe has been a lead for Texas.

Rogers wants to announce his commitment in the near the future. When I spoke with him he didn’t mention a specific date but said he wants to reserve his spot somewhere and said it could happen at anytime over the summer.

It is also worth noting that Rogers picked up a few additional offers over the past week so I’ll be checking to see if he is going to add any official visits to his list.

His Texas official visit is already scheduled. He has it scheduled for the big June 21st – 23rd weekend.

Quick Hitter | Shemar Turner to Visit
– CJ Vogel

It’s no secret how talented the 2021 prospects are and the defensive line group is a headliner for the class.

Among them is four-star DE Shemar Turner (DeSoto, TX).

**The 6-foot, 4-inch, 260 pound Turner told me he will visit the campus on June 22nd.

Turner has yet to be offered by the staff but is in contact with Oscar Giles. If all goes well this summer it would be very surprising to not see him offered by the first week of the season.

“I’m highly interested in Texas,” said Turner. “They are ranked high in my major and my family loves it.”

So far, Turner has been offered by Boston College, Kansas, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma State and Baylor.

Early on, Oklahoma State and Baylor are standing out for Turner.

The Latest | Texas Named in Vernon Broughton’s Top 6
– CJ Vogel

As expected, Texas was named in Vernon Broughton’s top-6 list that was tweeted out Monday afternoon.

We have maintained that Broughton is very high on the Longhorns but they be put to the test for the 4-star defensive end by LSU.

The other schools rounding out the top six include.

  • Texas
  • Alabama
  • LSU
  • Texas A&M
  • Ohio State
  • Arkansas

Broughton will take all five official visits so at least one of the schools listed will be cut when Broughton decides to make trips this summer/fall. As K reported last week, Texas is in a great spot and is doing a wonderful job winning over the family at the moment.

I get the feeling the final OV will come down to Arkansas and Texas A&M.

You can read more about K’s meeting with Broughton from last week here.

Sourced Update | Jahari Rogers & Vernon Broughton
– Super K

Let’s continue our focus on these two prospects for a bit longer.

***As I mentioned in my previous post, Jahari Rogers is coming off his Florida visit. Going into that visit, the Gators were the team I felt posed the biggest threat to Texas.

I spoke with a source following the visit and I can tell you that I do believe this one continues to trend in the direction towards the Horns.

Again, Rogers told me he will take his OV to Texas in June and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a decision sometime before or shortly after that.

Staying cautiously optimistic here.

***On the Vernon Broughton front, my read, as you all know, is that the team posing the biggest threat to Texas is LSU. I also believe Alabama could cause some problems. Vernon spoke highly of Ohio State when I met with him but I just have a hard time seeing him go that far away. Also, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that four of his top six schools are in the SEC.

If anyone is going to beat out an SEC team, I believe it will be Texas due, in part, to proximity.

Now, I heard from a source close to Cy Ridge program and also got word on how folks around Texas currently feel, and it seems the general feelings are also that right now Texas and LSU are the two teams to beat.

But, as we’ve noted, Vernon still has plenty of visits to take.
