The Latest | Bijan Robinson
– Super K
***I spoke with the mother of Bijan Robinson. Robinson is set to announce his decision in early August.
Bijan’s mother told me that Bijan has made a decision.
She would not, however, confirm which school it is. Folks around the program at Salpointe seem to think it’s Ohio State and I believe that probably explains the run of predictions for him.
I can tell you that in my conversations with Bijan’s mother, I get the sense that she prefers Texas. So once the staff gets back from vacation, even if the sense is that Ohio State is the choice, I’d be busting my tail trying to change this back in Texas’ favor.
This should especially be the case given it’s looking like Ohio State is going to get former OU RB commit, Jaylen Knighton. Bijan is a stud – perhaps the best RB in the country. But Knighton is a monster, as well. And I’ve never gotten the sense that Bijan was necessarily keen on being one of two major RBs in one class.
Big 12 Media Days | Day 1
– CJ Vogel
Big 12 Media Days is here! And that only means football season is inching closer. Below are some of the biggest takeaways from each head coach’s presser.
Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU and Texas Tech were the coaches selected to talk today on Day One.
— Head Coach Matt Wells said he fully expects quarterback Alan Bowman to be the guy this season. Bowman appeared in eight games as a freshman and threw for 2638 yards on 69% completion.
— Tech took in four grad transfers this offseason who are expected to be “in major roles immediately.” Wells pointed out former Utah RB Armand Shyne is expected to be right in the mix of things from the get-go.
— Wells pointed out Gary Patterson, Todd Orlando and Iowa State DC Jon Heacock as guys to strive to be in terms of defensive minds in the Big 12.
— It’s been a little while since Tech fully utilized a tight end but under Wells expect it to make a comeback. Wells wants to use it in a hybrid role.
— Les Miles on the suspension of Kansas star running back Pooka Williams: “No violence against a woman is OK. I did not make this decision but I stand by it and see it as a right one.”
— Les Miles on the inherited talent on the Kansas roster: “We have a better talent base here at Kansas then when I went to Oklahoma State (in 2001). This Kansas team is much more talented than their record shows”
— It’s been 10 years since Kansas last won more than three games in a season.
Mike Gundy and the mullet were in full force Monday.
— From the jump, Gundy was faced with questions surrounding his quarterback situation with senior Dru Brown and freshman Spencer Sanders.
“Whenever we’re ready to name a starter based on him earning the job, we’ll do that.”
“We haven’t had anybody go ahead and take the reins at this particular point.” They will split reps.
— Gundy probably delivered the line of the day in joking fashion in regards to in-state rival Oklahoma: “They’ve had very average quarterback play the last four years and they’ve been able to overcome it.”
— Gary Patterson will certainly have a big decision to make in the coming weeks. He cited six guys in the quarterback room at the moment, including Kansas State transfer Alex Delton.
— With renovations to Amon G. Carter Stadium underway, Patterson expects the stadium to be significantly louder this fall with the acoustics of the east-side expansion. Also highlights the value of facilities as a recruiting tool.
A line that certainly rivals that of Mike Gundy’s regarding his mullet.
— RB Kennedy Brooks, who was away from the team, “is back and a full go with our guys.” Riley said he was not updated at all during the process and left it completely up to the decision makers at the university.
— Lincoln called the Dallas area a “critical area” for recruiting but is a “second home” to Oklahoma in terms of distance and number of games they play in the area.
— In regards to the Austin Kendall transfer situation to WVU, “I was always going to let him go to West Virginia… I was concerned about a player transferring and being eligible right away to play in our league.”
“I still don’t really agree with it.”
— On Jalen Hurts: “He brings a lot of great game experience that Kyler & Baker didn’t have. He’s been eager. Things we do (offensively) he can trace back to things he did at Alabama or in high school”

He had planned on making his commitment public to the school of his choice yesterday. Obviously, that did not happen.
