The 2021 class keeps rolling along as the Longhorns add New Caney’s 2021 OLB Derrick Harris Jr to the class
Mark another win down for Todd Orlando, Jalen Milroe, and Hayden Conner here as they were able to use the momentum of the past few weeks to sway Derrick Harris Jr. to come to a conclusion sooner than he was planning on. Otherwise, this one was going to come down to a Texas vs Texas A&M battle.
Harris projects to be a B-Backer (hence the “strong position getting stronger”) and the staff views him in the same light as they did with Joseph Ossai. He currently plays a hybrid DE/OLB position in a 3-4 defense and has shown to be explosive off the edge in the pass rush, able to set a strong edge in the run game, and drop back into coverage in the pass game.
He is an excellent addition to what is proving to be a very promising 2021 class.
