Per Pete Thamel, Texas has let go of defensive coordinator Todd Orlando.
Over the past two seasons under Todd Orlando, Texas has allowed 392.8 yards (2018) and 446.3 yards (2019) on average, allowing a 42% third-down conversion rate over that time period. This amongst a number of other factors led to Orlando being at the head of some of the statistically worst defenses Texas has fielded in the history of the program.
After discontent in the locker room, fanbase, and athletic director’s office, Tom Herman made his first firing as a head coach.
Apparently the things that K had heard and was chalking up as potential rumors…were not rumors after all as Todd Orlando has been fired as Texas Defensive Coordinator.
We have no reason to doubt this report by Thamel, and we don’t expect it to be the last move.
