Quick Hitter – 2022 LB Robby Snelling
As luck would have it, I was able to get into contact with recent Texas LB offer Robby Snelling (Reno, NV) to get his thoughts on the Texas program and what his plans are for the summer.
First off, Snelling (6’2 215) is being recruited to play both Baseball and Football in college and right now he’s only seriously considering programs that will afford him that opportunity.
Texas LB Coach Jeff Choate has been the primary contact and after picking up an official offer on April 5th, Snelling wasted no time at all setting up an official visit to Texas for the weekend of June 11th. He also has official visits for June scheduled to Oregon and Arizona.
Snelling, who describes himself as a player that “plays fast and flies around with no regard for my body” mentioned to me that he’s looking for the best fit between both the Football and Baseball programs at each respective university. He will also be “very interested in how my time will be spent and the places that I can go while we aren’t doing athletics.”
Texas has a chance to make a lasting impression in June and I feel comfortable stating that there is a very strong chance right now that Snelling is one of the pieces to the LB puzzle this cycle.
Evan Stewart | Team Gets Bumped
– Super K
Hearing that Evan Stewart is bumping his scheduled Texas A&M official visit to take a official visit to USC, instead.
On the one hand, that may confirm what I suspected – that TAMU was never really much of a threat the way some of the other schools in his top list are.
On the other hand, USC is rising fast in this one. Evan’s interest in branding due to his massive social media following on tiktok (don’t feel bad if you don’t know what that is, I didn’t either until fairly recently) makes the LA market and USC in general, appealing.
In my most recent conversation with him, USC wasn’t much of a factor. So, this is very sudden. Still think Bama is probably the bigger threat but we should know more after this SC visit.
I’ll go into more detail about my recent conversation with Evan and what I got the sense he’s looking for.
Kennedy Lewis | Sourced | Team Note
– Super K
I am told that Texas sophomore wide receiver, Kennedy Lewis is likely headed for the portal. Sounds like this was more Texas’ decision.
The Latest on Xavier Worthy | Trending
– Super K
As you know by now, Texas is in pursuit of 2021 former Michigan WR signee (and a burner btw!), Xavier Worthy.
Worthy had signed with Michigan but for some reason was unable to enroll early and decided to request a release from his NLI.
Earlier this week, I had been told that Texas, Penn State, Ohio State and Ole Miss were some of the schools Xavier was considering.
However, yesterday, I spoke with a source close to Xavier, who tells me that Texas is the clear leader and it’s pretty much a done deal.
So my trending direction here is strongly…strongly…Texas.
Maalik Murphy Visiting for the Spring Game & Trying to Bring a Friend
– Super K
Texas 5-star QB commit, Maalik Murphy announced he will be at Texas’ spring game…
Maalik tells me that he’s trying to bring 4-star WR, CJ Williams out on the visit with him. He’s still working on it but we will let you know if that materializes.
Possibility of Big 2023 Visitor This Weekend
– CJ Vogel
Both DT and K have both been able to connect with sources who have mentioned that there is a good chance 2023 5-star QB Arch Manning will be in town to watch the Spring Game this weekend.
*** The source told me that the Mannings are very fond of the work Steve Sarkisian has done over the years and are ultimately big fans of how he works with and develops quarterbacks.
*** It’s still early for Manning’s recruitment, but the source said if he had to guess who is making headway early on it would be the trio of Alabama, Clemson and Texas. Said he would expect one of those three schools to end of earning the signature from Manning when it is all said and done.
The interest, it appears, between Arch Manning and Texas is legitimate. Getting him on campus this weekend for the spring game would be a huge win for the Longhorns and Steve Sarkisian.
K and DT will both have more on Arch and his plans to visit this summer in the very near future.
