‘Tis the season!
Texas has flipped four-star Austin Westlake defensive end Colton Vasek from Oklahoma.
Vasek committed to Oklahoma over Texas and Oregon back on August 1 and has since been the subject of a full-court press by the Texas staff and commits to flip. It certainly helps that the on-field performances between Texas and Oklahoma have gone in opposite direction with Texas pointing in the more positive direction.
Of course, the efforts by Arch Manning and the trio of Westlakers on the Texas roster should not go unnoticed.
For Texas, it cannot be understated how important this commitment is. I have been pretty adamant that Vasek is the best defensive end in the class and for him to stay home is a massive win for the Longhorns.
Finally, big credit to Pete Kwiatkowski, Steve Sarkisian and the rest of the Texas defensive staff for pulling this one off.
